Roberta Pearl Beerbower was the daughter of Anna May's brother Robert Warson Beerbower and his wife Josephine Reiffel. Robert died September 12, 1900, in Denver Colorado. (He was a railroad clerk, so possibly in Denver as part of his job? Or vacation?) Their daughter Roberta Pearl was born one month after his death, on October 16th, 1900, and thus grew up without her father. (She is noted as “Rob's little baby” in the Beerbower family bible.) Roberta and her mother are listed as living with Josephine's father, George Reiffel, in Peoria, Illinois in the 1910 & 1920 censuses. There are album pictures of a trip to Peoria, so it may have been to visit the Beerbowers. “Cousin Roberta” was greatly admired by her young cousin, Mary Theresa Helbling. Roberta married James Wertz about 1923, and they had a son, Robert Eldon Wertz, whose photo is found later in the album.
